
Dr. Nasiru Aliyu is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria having over twenty-two years of legal experience, with specialisations in Public International Law and Criminal Litigation. He garnered his law degree from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria. Nasiru also holds a Masters Degree in Law from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria and a Doctorate in Public International Law from Wuhan University, Peoples Republic of China.
Nasiru is a Co-founder and Partner of the Law Firm of Bashir, Nasiru & Co. where he has argued cases from the lower courts to the Supreme Court in areas of Criminal and Civil law for over twenty years. His law firm also prides itself on being at the forefront of legal research and social policy development having participated in and contributed to a myriad of published papers and articles and as such are widely recognised for their academic contributions to the profession and are lauded as experts in their fields.
He is currently a Senior Law Lecturer in Public Law with the University of Bayero, Kano in Northern Nigeria and serves as Head of Department and Lecturer in the studies of Criminal Litigation and Professional Ethics & Skills at the Nigerian Law School and has done so for the past
17 years. Prior to this Nasiru served as a Law Lecturer in the School of Legal and Islamic Studies at
Hussaini Adamu Polytechnic Jigawa, Nigeria for five years.
Nasiru’s other credentials include being a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and contributory Prosecutor on Medical & Dental Tribunals and the Failed Banks of Nigeria Tribunals. He has also participated in numerous public sector panels organised by the Nigerian Government and held the positions including Head, Legislation & Standard Department, Hydrocarbon Pollution Restoration Project (HYPREP), a United Nation Environmental Project (UNEP), Project under and partnered with the Federal Ministry of Petroleum of Nigeria.
